How to Create a New Product in Hashio

Before you begin:  The Products page is one of the most important setup areas in Hashio. Product records feed information into procurement, production, reporting, label generation, and Metrc compliance. The more detail you add here, the more powerful your other workflows become.

What is a Product in Hashio?

A Product record stores everything Hashio needs to know about an item your facility uses or produces — its name, cost, unit of measure, vendor, compliance details, and more. Products can represent raw ingredients, consumables like packaging materials, or finished cannabis goods. Only Name is required to save a record, but completing the other fields unlocks functionality across procurement, production, and reporting.

Understanding the Products List

When you navigate to Products in the left menu, you'll see your full product catalog. A few things worth knowing before you dive in:

  • Tabs — Filter your view by All Inventory, Cannabis, Non-Cannabis, or Archived.
  • Filters — Use the Filters button to narrow by category, subcategory, license, Metrc category, workflow, strain, vendor, and more.
  • Columns  — Click the Columns button to customize which fields are visible in the list. The full list of 35 columns maps directly to every field on the product creation form.
  • Three-dot menu — Access bulk tools: Config, Bulk Edit, Export Product List, Import Products, Upload Adjustments, and Bulk Adjust.
  • Bulk Select — Check multiple products to delete them in bulk using the Bulk Actions menu.

Step 1  Navigate to Products and Start a New Record
  1. In the left navigation menu, click the dropdown button for Production.
  2. Select Products.
  3. Click the + Add Product button in the top right corner.

The New Product form will open, organized into four sections: Product Info, Cannabis Info, Labeling & Compliance, and Other.

Step 2  Fill In Product Info

Complete the fields in the Product Info section. Name is the only required field — fill in as much of the rest as you can.

FieldWhat to enter
Name *The full product name as it will appear throughout Hashio. This is the only required field.
LicenseAssociate this product with the relevant license(s) at your facility.
Is Production ItemCheck this box if this item is produced or manufactured by your facility. Leave it unchecked for raw ingredients, consumables, or supplies you purchase from a vendor.
Current Inventory LevelThe quantity currently on hand.
Low Inventory ThresholdThe quantity at which this product should be flagged as low stock. This value drives re-order reports.
AbbreviationA short code for the product, useful on reports and labels.
Featured ImageOptional. Upload a product photo.
External LinkOptional. A URL for ordering this product from a supplier.
SKU / UPCYour internal SKU and/or the product's universal barcode number, if applicable.
PriceThe sales price per unit. This applies when the item is a production item being sold.
CostThe cost per unit as used in production. For ingredients and non-cannabis items, enter cost in the unit used in recipes (e.g., cost per gram). For production items, Hashio will calculate an average cost based on actual production costs.
Bulk Unit CostThe cost per bulk ordering unit (e.g., cost per case). For example, if you order chocolate by the case at $100.00, enter $100.00 here — and enter the cost per gram in the Cost field above.
Default UnitThe standard unit of measure for this product. This is pulled directly from Metrc and cannot be changed in Hashio.
Vendor Item NumberThe item number your vendor uses for this product — helpful for purchase orders.
Ordering UnitHow this product is ordered from your vendor. This field is fully customizable — type in whatever applies (e.g., cases, eaches, 50# case, 55 gal drum). Defaults to "cases."
Units Per CaseHow many individual units are in one ordering unit. For example, a 25# case of chocolate would be 11,339.8 grams. Or 800 pre-roll cones per carton.
Weight / VolumeThe physical weight and volume of the product. Select the appropriate unit from the dropdowns.
Step 3  Fill In Cannabis Info (If Applicable)

Scroll to the Cannabis Info section. If this product contains cannabis, check the Is Cannabis box. This is required for any item that will be pushed to Metrc or was imported from Metrc.

FieldWhat to enter
THC Content / Unit / PercentEnter the THC amount, select the unit of measure, and enter the THC percentage.
CBD Content / Unit / PercentEnter CBD details in the same format as THC, if applicable.
Product Grams / Flower EquivOptional fields used for dosing calculations. For example, a pre-roll product might have 1 entered in Product Grams.
Step 4  Fill In Labeling & Compliance Info (If Applicable)

The Labeling & Compliance section applies to finished goods — for both cultivation and manufacturing licenses. Fill this out if you plan to generate labels for this product from Hashio.

FieldWhat to enter
Serving SizeThe serving size amount that will appear on the product label.
Servings Per PackageTotal number of servings contained in one package.
Supply Duration DaysHow many days one package is intended to last.
Doses Per PackageTotal number of doses in the package.
Serving Duration TimeHow long the effects of one serving are expected to last.
InstructionsUsage instructions to appear on the label.
Ingredient ListFull ingredient list to appear on the label.
Step 5  Fill In the Other Section

The Other section connects this product to other areas of your Hashio setup.

FieldWhat to enter
WorkflowLink this product to a workflow, if applicable.
Category / SubcategoryHashio-specific categories your facility has defined. These are great for filtering and organizing your product list — every facility sets these up differently.
Metrc CategoryRequired for any cannabis product being pushed to Metrc. Categories are state-specific and the same across all licenses within your state.
StrainThe strain associated with this product, if applicable.
BrandThe brand this product is associated with, if applicable.
VendorLink to a vendor record in Hashio. Important for the procurement system and purchase orders.
Step 6  Save the Product

When you're done, you have two options at the bottom of the form:

  • Save — Saves the product in Hashio and takes you to the product detail page, where you can link it to QuickBooks, Apex, or other integrations.
  • Push Changes to Metrc — Saves the product in Hashio and simultaneously creates the corresponding item in Metrc. Use this for cannabis products that need to be tracked in your state compliance system.
Not sure which to choose?  Click Save first. You can always push to Metrc later from the product detail page.
Tip:  Think of the Products page as your foundation. The more complete your product records are, the better Hashio works across procurement, production, reporting, and label generation. You can always come back to a product and add more detail later.
