How to Use Plant Groups in Hashio

Cultivation Guide

Before you begin:  Your plants are automatically synced from Metrc into Hashio. Plant Groups are a Hashio feature — they don't exist in Metrc and won't affect your Metrc data when you create or manage them.

What is a Plant Group?

Every plant in your facility has its own individual Metrc tag. Plant Groups let you bundle those individual plant tags into one organized unit — so instead of managing hundreds of plants one at a time, you can view them, track their progress, and take action on all of them at once.

You might create a group to:

  • Organize all the plants in a specific room or location
  • Bundle multiple strains that are going through the same grow cycle together
  • Connect a set of plants to a Hashio Batch for production planning
  • Include clones (plant batches) before they're promoted to tracked plants

Step 1  Navigate to Plant Groups
  1. In the left navigation, click Plants.
  2. At the top of the screen, click the Groups tab.

Any plant groups that have already been created will appear in this list.

Step 2  Create a New Plant Group
  1. Click the + Add Group button in the top right corner.
  2. Fill in the form fields:
FieldWhat to enter
Name *A descriptive name your team will recognize, such as the room name or batch reference (e.g., "Veg Room 2 — March")
DescriptionOptional. Add any notes about this group, such as which strains are included.
Propagation DateWhen this group's plants were or will be propagated.
Planned Veg DatePlanned start date for the vegetative phase.
Planned Flower DatePlanned start date for the flowering phase.
Planned Harvest DatePlanned harvest date. These dates populate the phase timeline visible inside the group.
  1. Click Save. Your group is now created and ready for plants.
Step 3  Add Plant Batches (Untracked Clones)

Use this option to add clones or cuttings that have not yet been promoted to individually tracked plants in Metrc.

  1. Open your group and click Add Plant Batches.
  2. Use the filters to find what you're looking for:
    • Search by batch name, location, strain, or license
    • Check "Include inactive" if you need to see older batches
  3. Check the box next to each batch you want to include.
  4. Click Add Selected to add them to the group.
Date prompt:  After adding, a pop-up may appear asking "Update Group Propagation Date?" This happens when the planted date of your batches is different from the propagation date you entered when creating the group. Click "Yes, Update Date" to sync the group's date to match your plants, or "No, Keep Current" to leave your original date unchanged. You can always edit the group's dates later.
Step 4  Add Plants (Tracked Plants)

Use this option for plants that have already been promoted and are individually tracked in Metrc.

  1. Inside your group, click + Add Plants.
  2. A two-panel window opens. Available plants are on the left; your selected plants appear on the right.
  3. Use the filters to narrow down the list:
    • Search by plant tag, strain, location, or growth phase
  4. Click individual plants to select them, or click Add All Filtered Plants to Group to add everything matching your current filters at once.
  5. Click Add Plants to confirm.
Date prompt:  After adding, the same "Update Group Propagation Date?" pop-up may appear if the planted date of your plants differs from the group's propagation date. Click "Yes, Update Date" to sync the dates, or "No, Keep Current" to leave them as is. Either choice can be changed later by editing the group.
Step 5  Understanding the Group Detail View

Once plants have been added, your group detail view gives you a full picture of the group at a glance.

Step 6  Using Metrc Actions on a Group

The Metrc Actions menu lets you perform compliance actions on every plant in the group at the same time — no need to select plants individually.

  1. Inside the group, click the Metrc Actions button (the lightning bolt icon ⚡).
  2. Select the action you want to perform:
    • Move, Change Growth Phase, Change Strain, Apply Additive, Harvest, Manicure, Destroy, Create Waste
Important:  Any Metrc action you perform here will apply to all plants in the group. See the related guides for step-by-step instructions on each individual action.
Step 7  Additional Group Options

Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top right of the group for more options:

  • Edit — Update the group name, description, or planned dates.
  • Export CSV — Download a spreadsheet of all plants in the group.
  • Split Group — Divide this group into two separate groups.
  • Delete Group — Remove the group from Hashio. This does not affect your plants in Metrc.
Step 8  Link a Plant Group to a Hashio Batch

Connecting a Plant Group to a Hashio Batch ties your cultivation plants into your production planning workflow. You can do this in either direction.

Option A: Link from inside the Batch

  1. Navigate to Batches in the left menu and open the relevant batch.
  2. On the Dashboard tab, scroll down to the Plant Groups section.
  3. Click Link Existing to connect a group you've already created, or + New Group to create one on the spot.

Option B: Link from inside the Plant Group

  1. Open the Plant Group.
  2. Click the Edit link next to the Batch field at the top of the group.
  3. Select the batch you want to link and save.
Tip:  You can also create a Plant Group directly from the Batch Calendar view. This is especially useful for planning ahead — just enter a start date and fill in the number of days for each phase, and Hashio will calculate the dates for you.
