Starting a Harvest or Manicure
| Before you begin: You will need tagged plants that are ready to come down, a drying room to move them into, and each plant’s weight. Starting a harvest creates the harvest in Metrc for you — you can start it from the Harvests page or straight from a plant group. |
What Happens When You Start a Harvest
A harvest is the record that follows your flower from the day it comes down until it is packaged. When you start one in Hashio, you name it, say where it is drying, and give each plant its weight.
Hashio creates the harvest in Metrc, switches those plants to Harvested, and adds the new harvest to your Harvests page — where the weight, the cost, and eventually the packages all live.
Two Ways to Start One
Both routes create the same harvest in Metrc. The only difference is how the plants get picked — so choose whichever matches the plants in front of you.
| Where you start | Use it when |
| From the Harvests page | The plants coming down do not line up neatly with one group — you want to pick them yourself by strain, room, or tag, or pull from more than one group. |
| From a plant group | A whole group is coming down at once. Every tagged plant in that group goes into the harvest together, so there is nothing to select. |
Harvest or Manicure?
A harvest takes the whole plant — the plant is done. A manicure takes a trimmed portion while the plant keeps growing. Both are available from both starting points, and the steps below are identical for either one. Just start from the manicure option instead of the harvest one.
| Step 1 Choose where you are starting from |
In the left navigation, click Cultivation, then:
Not sure which? If everything coming down today is in one group, start from the group. Otherwise start from the Harvests page. |
| Step 2 Open the harvest window |
From the Harvests page:
A window titled “Start harvest” opens. The manicure window works exactly the same way. From a plant group:
A window opens headed “Harvest — N Plants,” where N is the number of tagged plants in that group. Those plants are already in the harvest; there is nothing to select. |
| Step 3 Fill in the harvest details | ||||||||||||||
Complete these fields:
Everything except the note is required. The button at the bottom of the window stays greyed out until they are all filled in. |
| Step 4 Add your plants and their weights |
Weigh each plant as it comes down and record its whole wet weight — stalk, stems and all. That is the number Metrc expects at harvest, before any of it is trimmed off. From the Harvests page — pick your plants:
Only tracked plants appear in the bulk add search. From a plant group — the plants are already in; add the weights:
The CSV is the fastest route for a big group — export your scale sheet, name the two columns to match, and every plant gets its own weight in one go. |
| Step 5 Check your numbers, then start the harvest |
If you uploaded a CSV with a weight for every tag, you have already done that check — the tags in your file are the plants you weighed. The button stays greyed out until every required detail is filled in and every plant has a weight. |
| Tip: Naming your harvest. Because the name is free text, nothing stops two harvests sharing one — which gets confusing fast. Pick a convention and stick to it; strain plus harvest date is a common one. It matters because you cannot add plants to a harvest once it has gone to Metrc. If more plants come down the next day, they belong in a harvest of their own. |
What Changes Once It Goes Through
The plant group keeps its total — the count does not drop. What changes is each plant’s State, which switches to Harvested.
The new harvest appears on your Harvests page with its plant count, its wet weight, and its drying location, ready for drying, costing and packaging.
That is it — your harvest is created in Metrc and live on your Harvests page. If you have questions or run into anything unexpected, reach out to the Hashio support team — we are happy to help.
